What I love about Mario’s is that they aren’t afraid to shake things up a bit. Whether you get a giant calzone filled with your favorite pasta or their buffalo chicken roll that feeds an entire room, these guys know how to handle business. Whether it’s green pizza for St. Patrick’s Day or their limited time specialty slices, you can always count on something to blow your mind. Could you ever think of having sage buttered gnocchi, mascarpone, and pumpkin on a pizza? Neither could I but it happened. Just be sure to keep an eye out.

Now I know that the name may seem like the rest but I can absolutely assure you that the pizza is not. Tucked away in West Islip, you’ll find a variety of different slices here. Don’t get me wrong, I love their regular slices but I go here strictly for their signature slices and you’ll understand when you try it out yourself. They aren’t afraid of being different here with a loaded mashed potato and a French fry & bacon pizza in their arsenal. I’m always looking for a buffalo chicken and chicken, bacon, & ranch slice on the island and I astoundingly found two of my favorites at one place. With fresh toppings and perfectly cooked crust, you’ll be back real soon.

Located in Deer Park, right by Tanger Outlets is a classic pizza joint you absolutely need to try if you like to keep it simple. I’ve single handedly had one of my favorite regular slices and garlic knots here. I’m not sure what it was but I felt like every bite had the perfect crunch and I couldn’t get enough of that marinara sauce on the pie. I figured I would also get a side of knots to go and I couldn’t believe what I was tasting. I noticed that they were tossing their knots in some serious looking buffalo sauce so I picked up six for the road and they were quite honestly, perfection. It may sound dramatic but have you ever had fresh and steamy garlic knots? Whether you want them classic or with a kick, you just need to get there.

Take a trip to Oceanside with this one. Welcome to the home of the Chicken Parm Pizza. You do have to preorder this one but it’s well worth it and you’ll understand why. This isn’t your average pizza. In fact, you may not consider it pizza at all. With finely blended chicken, its fried to perfection in a pizza shape. It’s then topped with fresh mozzarella and sauce just like your average slice but because it’s all chicken, there’s no sign of average here. With every bite, you get a delicious taste of chicken. Pro tip: once you ask for the many variations of chicken pizza, ask them about their fried chicken tacos.
